Lagos-Ibadan road carnival

It seems there is hardly anything Nigerians do that do not attract fanfare, even if it’s shameless and outlandish. Lagos-Ibadan Expressway is a peculiar road in the country because it is very busy. It has been connected with several contracts, many of them have failed while many more lives have been lost. Presidents, ministers and even lawyers have boasted to see the road extended and the accidents cut down, but fanfare is all we see. Even when a naija oga visited the road for a publicity stunt, fanfare that can only compare with a carnival greeted his arrival. Trust politicians to be the first comers. But they didn’t come alone; they came with banners and crews with voices loud enough to distract the visiting oga.
Aprokokos best carnival group award…and the award goes to the group of a former minister blessed enough to serve in more than four ministries. His group made the loudest, most irritating noise at the Lagos Ibadan carnival.
