The
leadership of the Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State
of Biafra has endorsed President Goodluck Jonathan for a second term.
The decision was reached after its national executive meeting on Monday.
A statement by MASSOB’s National Director
of Inforamation, Mr. Uchenna Madu, in which the announcement was made,
said the national leader of the group, Mr. Raph Uwazuruike and a few
others boycotted the meeting.
The statement partly read, “That MASSOB,
in coalition with other Igbo socio-political proups, shall support and
vote for President Goodluck Jonathan, being a Christian, a close
neighbour of Ndi’gbo and an in-law.”
The group, however, said it expected
“concrete assurance and evidence” from the President on the
rehabilitation of the Okigwe-Arondizuogu-Nnewi expressway,
Umuahia-Ohafia-Arochukwu federal road and Enugu-Awka-Onitsha dual
carriage way, which the group said “have been wickedly abandoned by the
Federal Government.”
